job and death

.
job

i am working. thats right. i go to work every morning when calendar doesnt say weekend. time 830-1700 and 1 hour for lunch in between. place is very smart ’southbank institute of technology’.

one could say its university. and im there to help – yep like batman or something. i did this kind of helping in estonia too, im experienced helper. people have problem with their computers, they call me, i will come and help them. people get happy, toomas gets money. wonderful system. there are bad things also: i cant climb and swim anymore in the mornings. i have to follow dress code: these oz people r strange: i have to wear closed shoes because (as older collegues stressed) if computer falls on ur toes it will cut them off when sandals u wear! in estonia i came to work in closed shoes and changed them for sandals indoors, in australia its opposite but I cant really blame them - they have kangaroos. oh yeah, dangerous, dangerous job... and no jeans or t-shirts here. must have shirt with collar and decent pants – they are needed for manipulating customers minds – so they think we are better workers.

but enough about work. there are more things to share. for example plenty of rabbits little siblings: our small house is situated just in the crossroad of different lifeforms. lets start with more common species. in (or out) our house you can meet 2 cats. spectacular facts are: they dont have tails and they really catch mice. to be accurate not only mice but everything that is smaller than them and moves, like: spiders, birds, opossums, lizards, snakes. they r proud of their work and bring their kills home so I can show to you too...

death

reality call for jerry – dont fuck with tom...

spiders, big and deadly is one stereotype for australia. well they r definately big in size and numbers here, about deadlyness dont know yet. this fellow sat on my ceiling, biggest spider my eyes ever met, maybe im exaggerating but seemed to be same size as my hand

and if u could look out from our bathroom like i do you could notice these boys (they have lotsa friends too)

bike&job getting

bike

i have tendency to buy bike everywhere where i stay little longer so do not wonder friends - i got one here. and then i got another one - even before i had seen twenty mornings on this continent. first i made nice deal on australian own brand ’malvern star’ hybrid bike.

it had shimano sis deraillieurs and huge play in bottom bracket (that is bad thing by the way but ’no problem, i will fix it myself’ thought i) despite anything it looked splendid bike for 50$. heh, it wasnt. because spokes got epidemy. until problem stayed in front wheel it was ok - anybody can change spoke on front wheel. but then 2 spokes living side by side on rear wheel died together with wheels original geometry – wonderful! and outcome: next day i went and bought much older bike for 20$. and sold my shiny sick bike for 50$ to one malaisian guy who smiled to me and told „no problem, i will fix it myself“... yeah, why not... so now i have old hybrid bike with kinky name 'giant nutria' that also looks old but actually has much more quality inside (acera x deraillieurs :P ) than its predecessor and it even has computer that said to me today i've been rollin on that bike for 400 km now

job getting

i have started to think - getting a job is not too easy. there r long moments when it seems jobs r away or hiding and everybody is looking for them. and jobs u can find they dont answer u they run away. then again it depends. to get lowend job is easier even if considering global economical downfall and high season of backpackers (who r lookin exactly for this kind of jobs). rural areas and farms r still refugee for pennyless workhungry traveller just i have some pennys left and im naive enough to hope getting more specialist (it stuff u know) job. with this kind of jobs main problem is working restrictions according to my visa – i can work maximum 6 months in one company. therefore for decent job companies dont want me cause i will leave too quickly and for simpler jobs they say i'm just overqualified. what i can do is: find ad’s, send cv’s and wait and call and wait more. and then i got job. and tomorrow is my first day as proletarian again... more about my job will i tell when i know more myself :)
